Easy DIY Upcycled, Reusable Swiffer Cloths

swiffer
I don’t love to clean. I also don’t like to spend money on cleaning products. To avoid buying disposable swiffer cloths, I had just been using fleece tucked around the flat end of the swiffer broom and washing the cloth after every use. I could use an improvement.

Baking Bread: Step-By-Step

Last week, my friend Kirsten graciously had me guest post on her blog. You can see the post there, but I'm re-posting it today in case anyone missed it.
I cook every day. I like to bake, too. Here are some links to my favorite recipes, including muffins, grilled pizza (it's amazing!!!), the best ever steak marinate, and a fantastic lemonade cake

When I was younger, my Grandma taught me to make bread. I didn't make it myself for many years, considering it too time-consuming.

Scrappy Nursery Pillow

scrappy nursery pillow
nursery pillow made from scraps
I love making things for my boys. I had a tiny scrap of my baby’s nursery fabric (that I used for a crib skirt, blanket, and softie football) left. I had some other random scraps of fabric from the other projects, too. So I sewed them all into this boxy pillow. I just made it up as I went along.
No tutorial or in-progress pictures, sorry. Just the finished product.
This binding around the edge (scraps from a pair of jeans) makes the pillow boxy. IMG_4958
And the fringe-y looking stuff is t-shirt yarn. I used the idea here to add three rows of fringe. I thought my little guy would like the texture. He does.IMG_4965

Simple Placemat Tutorial

simple placemat tutorialstriped placemat with freezer paper stencilMy kitchen needed some spring updates. And since I live in a home where spring means it is {finally} time to get out our road bikes, I figured I’d give it a little bike theme. Similar to the bike kitchen towels I made a few weeks ago.
Here is how I made four of these cute placemats.
