Pleated Chevron Bags with Trim

I am so excited to show you some new variations of my pleated chevron bags. I used various trims to make the front of the bag more decorative. For one version, I used navy bias tape. gray and white chevron with navy trim

Flat Zippered Pouch

flat zippered clutch (12)

This past weekend was Mother’s Day. I wanted to make my mom something special since she’s my mom. Plus, she took my boys overnight one night over the weekend while my husband and I went to a homeschool conference. Since our trip to Toronto last year, we haven’t been anywhere with just the two of us.

Aqua Pleated Chevron Bag

I have had several requests for chevron bags. I’d stopped making them for awhile just to give myself a break and make something different. But a few friends have wanted to order them. So I have taken some custom orders and then am in the process of making a few extras to sell.

Pleated Yellow Dot Cross-Body Bag

When I saw this fabric at my favorite store, I just knew I had to make just one more pleated bag.

How to Insert Magnetic Snaps

magnetic snap tutorial
I love making bags. But they have to close. I’ve found that magnetic snaps are my favorite closure to add to a bag. They look cleaner than velcro, don’t snag things, last longer, and look better than a zipper.

While making these bags for a friend’s wedding last year, I panicked at the thought of sewing one in. But I learned not to be afraid of using them. They’re easy.

Pink & Brown Pleated Bag.

pleated purse

I recently finished this pleated pink and brown bag. It is the same pattern as the gray and yellow chevron bag I shared a few weeks ago. That bag is my new favorite and a favorite of many readers.

Chevron Pleated Bag. (My new favorite thing.)

One of the most popular posts on my blog has been a trio of bags I made for a friends’ wedding (as bridesmaid-type gifts). I didn’t make the pattern or anything, it’s from a book, but they had turned out really well. So I cut out a few more. And I may be keeping this one for myself.

Upcycled Chevron Purse

chevron purse (2)
I made this little bag using the Buttercup Bag Tutorial at Made By Rae.
I haven’t purchased any of her patterns yet, but I know if I had a serger I would have to try the Washi Dress.

Squared-Off, Stand-Up Tote Tutorial

upcycled stand-up tote bag with gussets (11.1
I like when tote bags stand up on their own (instead of flopping over onto their sides). Here’s a brief how-to on making a square bottom, or gusseted bag using the Upcycled Tote Bag Tutorials I’ve previously posted.

Messenger Bag Refashion Tutorial

free messenger bag re do (30)
Random ugly trade-show items are rampant in our home. We have several bags at the moment that are proudly declaring various company names. We use them for library books or other needs. I decided this orange one (below) needed a makeover! I’m really excited about the result. You might recognize the makeover fabric from these bags.

Do you have an ugly bag you’d like to refashion? Oh, good.

Tall & Slender Stand-Up Tote Bag

I love to make bags. This is a new pattern I developed; a tall and narrow tote with long straps.
I love the pink and soft gray color combination.

It would be great for toting around knitting or crocheting projects in progress.

Check it out in my Etsy shop!

Bike Bag with Freezer Paper Stenciling

bag with painted negative stencil bike
More freezer paper stenciling. More bikes. However, this technique is slightly different than other freezer paper stenciling I have done. This uses the cutout piece of the stencil. It’s painting around the stencil instead of just inside of it.

Upcycled Tote Bag: Part 1

tote bag from cargo pants (13.1)
Remember last week when I mentioned I was making a tutorial regarding the bag I have listed in my Etsy shop? Here is part 1! I split the tutorial into two parts because I took so many pictures. I didn’t want them to overwhelm anyone.

Upcycled Tote Bag

I love making bags! I made this little boy-themed bag this past weekend. It is currently for sale in my Etsy shop if you are interested in purchasing it for a special little boy in your life.
