You might remember these hats I made a few months ago. My older guy’s hat didn’t fit very well. (Too big.) So I ran across this other bucket hat pattern for kids and decided to give it a go.
I used some twill fabric I had received for free. I added extra top stitching at all the seams.
(I didn’t use a double needle. Just stitched two seams.) You can read more about problems I've had with the double needle.
I didn’t use any interfacing. Just the twill. It wrinkles a bit for my taste, but at least it fits! The other hat I had made was too deep.
I definitely recommend this pattern I used. I made the XL size for my 3-year-old, which turned out a little bigger than I had thought.
Better too big than too small, right?
super cute! Hats are one thing I've never tried to make, but it sure looks like it would be fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is great :) I've only ever tried infant hats. I was just in the market for a hat, and this would have been perfect! (I'm making my son's Halloween costume right now, and he's going to be the Man in the Yellow hat!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Very cute! I am not this talented with fabric, but will pass it off to my mom with a little hint hint ;)
ReplyDeletehope that works for you. It was an easy pattern, if that helps your case.
