I especially love details on kids’ clothes. Stitching, tags, pockets, even though the kid wearing the clothes doesn’t care. My sweet littlest guy needed some shorts. I had all kinds of ideas to make them extra-special, but I decided to focus on stitching with these shorts. I am sort of a “hurrier” when it comes to sewing, so I often don’t take time to make my stitches look perfect. {And these are far from perfect.} But they are totally wearable.

Refashioned: Banded Bottom Shirt

I have this white shirt I really like. However, I bought it last summer right after I had baby #2, so I was a little larger in the waist area. And now, since I’m back to normal (yay!) the shirt was too big.

Handmade Placemats

I wanted to point out some projects I have done in the past which are not fabric related.

1. Taking apart a radiator cover and turning it into a wall unit to organize lots of sewing supplies.

Staying Organized: Pantry

Just a quick little idea for you organizing fanatics out there.

Do you have a bunch of plastic magazine holders? Someone gave me about eight of them and I wasn’t sure what to do with them at first. Then I decided to turn them onto their sides to create mini shelves in my pantry. This allows me to have a place to store recipes torn from magazines, coupons, and other random collections.


Also, I turned some onto their sides to store tubes of tin foil, saran wrap, and other kitchen items that come on a roll. They also contain stuff like bubble wrap or plastic bags I want to re-use.

Organizing with Crates

I love wood crates. I’ve pinned lots of ideas for using them. I just finished two for my home.

Organizing Kids’ Dishes

A friend of mine was visiting and commented that she liked the set up we have to encourage our toddler to help out.

In our kitchen, we have a low cupboard devoted to our little guys’ plates, dishes, cups, and flatware. My three year-old can help by putting away his own dishes as I empty the dishwasher. He can also be helpful when it is time to eat by finding the appropriate dish or utensil.

DIY Thank You Notes

It was my little guy’s birthday last weekend. He got some very nice gifts from family members and I wanted to write some thank-you notes. We live in a small town and the only place I could make it to for thank-you cards was one of our [many] dollar stores.
